MINI models in the viewer
The figures are the Department for Transport’s count of cars registered for the first time in the UK, from its table VEH0160, “Vehicles registered for the first time by body type, make, generic model and model: United Kingdom”, covering Jan. 2023 to June 2026: the year 2025 alone, then the total for the whole period. The rank is each model’s place by that total among the 1,378 car models in the table.
| Model | 2025 | Total | Rank |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cooper Electric | 25,590 | 103,092 | 11th |
| Countryman | 13,634 | 48,872 | 39th |
Where the table names a model more widely than the picture, the figure counts every one: the Cooper Electric row counts every MINI Cooper.

Which private plates fit each MINI
We sell three styles of registration mark: prefix, current and Northern Irish. A registration mark may never make a vehicle look newer than it is, so whether a dated one fits turns on when the car was first registered. Every Northern Irish registration mark fits every MINI, as it carries no year. Every prefix one fits every model here too, as the last prefix letter, Y, was issued in March 2001. Here is each MINI in the viewer, by the version pictured.
- MINI Cooper Electric, J01 (2024). A MINI Cooper Electric first registered in 2024 can carry a current-style registration mark with an age identifier up to 73 (issued Sept. 2023), up to 24 if first registered from 1 March 2024, or up to 74 if from 1 Sept. 2024.
- MINI Countryman, third generation (2024). A MINI Countryman first registered in 2024 can carry a current-style registration mark with an age identifier up to 73 (issued Sept. 2023), up to 24 if first registered from 1 March 2024, or up to 74 if from 1 Sept. 2024.
Common questions
Which private plates fit a MINI?
Every prefix and Northern Irish registration mark fits every MINI in our viewer. A current-style one fits when its age identifier is no newer than the car’s first registration, so a newer MINI can carry a newer registration mark.
Which MINI is registered most in the UK?
Of the MINI models in our viewer, the MINI Cooper had the most first registrations in the Department for Transport’s figures for Jan. 2023 to June 2026: 103,092, ranking it 11th of the 1,378 car models in table VEH0160.
Can I see a registration mark on my MINI before I buy it?
Yes. Type any registration mark into the number plate viewer on this page and choose a MINI model. The picture shows it on the front number plate in the legal typeface and spacing, and it is free.
Every car is in the number plate viewer. Private plate styles explains each style, and age restrictions sets out which registration mark can go on which vehicle. Or see private plates on an MG or a Morgan.
